Ian Sinclair’s new book, The march that shook Blair, is an oral history of
\nthe largest demonstration in British history – the march against the Iraq
\nwar on February 15, 2003. Published to mark the 10th anniversary of the
\nmarch, the book explores the impact of the march and the anti-war
\nmovement, the debate about the tactics of the Stop the War Coalition, the
\neffect of the march on Britain’s Muslim population and much more besides.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn this evidence, the big march was shock and awe from the bottom-up; it<\/p>\n
came within a hair’s breadth of derailing the warmongers and still shapes

According to polling, over 1\u00bc million people took part in Britain’s
\nbiggest-ever political protest: the 15 February 2003 anti-war march in
\nLondon against the invasion of Iraq. Around the world millions more
\ndemonstrated, leading the New York Times to note that \u201cthere may still be
\ntwo superpowers on the planet: the United States and world public
