Seize the Day to play for <\/span>Norwich Greens<\/span><\/p>\n Seize the Day are visiting Norfolk to play at Cromer’s Folk on the Pier Festival, <\/span><\/p>\n and at St Thomas Church Hall Earlham Rd (junction with Edinburgh Rd) in Norwich on May 11th 8pm at the invitation of Norwich Green Party.<\/span><\/p>\n Seize The Day is a radical English acoustic band from Somerset, with global roots. <\/span><\/p>\n In 2003 the band polled the most on-line votes in the Radio 3 <\/span>“Audience Awards” <\/span>category, but were disqualified without warning after Radio 3 Executives realised they might express their anti-war believes in song at the ceremony. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n They are well known within the peace\/environmental\u00a0 movement for inspiring\u00a0 people to\u00a0 laugh, dance, cry, sing about\u00a0 major issues, and then do something about them.\u00a0 Norwich fan and Green Party Councillor Lesley Grahame who is organising the gig\u00a0 met them at the gates of Aldermaston nuclear weapons factory. Since then the band have played a leading role in campaign against EDF\u2019s new nuclear power station at Hinckley point in Somerset, similar in design to Sizewell in Suffolk.<\/span><\/p>\n One of the bands early songs was inspired by\u00a0 direct action campaigner Angie Zelter, then living near Cromer. Ms Zelter was one of the first peace activists to be found not guilty of criminal damage in a court of law, after taking a domestic hammer to the nose cone of a bomber plane destined for use against civilians.\u00a0 The court agreed that she was preventing a greater crime.<\/span><\/p>\n On a previous visit to East Anglia they played at the Burston Strike Rally and the Waveney Greenpeace Fair, bringing organisers of both events together to share the expenses Violinist Chris Bluemel from Southampton said on behalf of the band:<\/span><\/p>\n ‘Seize The Day and the Green Party share the same drive to create and fairer, more equitable and more sustainable world, so we are delighted to be performing for the party in Norwich.’\u00a0 There will be a bar, refreshments, campaign and conversation area<\/span><\/p>\n
