{"id":3763,"date":"2015-04-07T17:54:59","date_gmt":"2015-04-07T17:54:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bothness.uber.space\/?p=3763"},"modified":"2015-04-21T21:57:48","modified_gmt":"2015-04-21T21:57:48","slug":"3763","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/norwichpeace.org\/?p=3763","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1428427231667_13043\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">Dear  Friends<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;\"> <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: x-small;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1428427231667_13100\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">I\u2019d like to tell you about our next Lunch Box talk on  Friday 17<sup>th<\/sup> April at 1pm in the Friends Meeting House in Upper Goat  Lane, Norwich NR2 1EW. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1428427231667_13095\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1428427231667_13090\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">The Wulugu Project is now in its 21<sup>st<\/sup> year,  and having made it possible for over a quarter of a million children to have an  education, it continues to build new schools and hostels in one of the poorest  and neglected parts of the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1428427231667_13087\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1428427231667_13083\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">This special talk on\u00a0Wulugu\u00a0will be given by  its founder and Ghanaian Chief, Lynne Symonds.\u00a0 Wulugu is a small charity based in  Norwich but its impact on the lives of children in northern Ghana has been  profound.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1428427231667_13057\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">Wulugu educates girls in literacy and numeracy as well as  employable vocational skills, such as hairdressing, cooking, weaving,  dress-making.\u00a0 Wulugu has so far  built and equipped seven Vocational Schools, the newest one being opened at  Tolon in June 2014, with 400 girls enrolling and many more waiting to  join.<!--more--><\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1428427231667_13059\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\"> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1428427231667_13062\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">People often say that they would like to \u2018make a  difference\u2019 in this life but how many can say that they have made a difference  to a quarter of a million children by indefatigable fundraising and careful  building of good working relationships with people on the ground in Ghana. Lynne  Symonds has managed to do this.
