Resisting Austerity

Greece is at the cutting edge of austerity measures being introduced across Europe. While these
measures protect the interests of the rich, they just make matters worse for the majority of the
population. In Britain, the Coalition government is pursuing similar measures which
will see workers earning less and working longer for a smaller pension; plus the marketisation of
education and the dismantling of the NHS and other public services. In Norfolk, deep cuts in services,
benefits and jobs are hurting thousands of people. The Greek people have shown mass
resistance to such outrages – and we can learn from their response.

the variety of forms of organised resistance.
