Dear All,

This is a reminder about the important UNA LunchBox talk to be given by Professor Rhys Jenkins on Friday 15th June at 1pm in the Friends Meeting House, Upper Goat Lane, Norwich.  The talk is entitled: “The Rise of China and the Global Economy”. Professor Jenkins is an economist by training with interests in international development issues, particularly trade and foreign investment, and in industrialisation.  His current research  focuses on the impact of the growth of China on other developing countries.  He has had a long term interest in  the activities of transnational corporations in the South and this has included analysis of corporate social responsibility.

Professor Jenkins has over 30 years experience of research in developing countries, particularly in Latin America. He has also worked in East Asia and South Africa. He has acted as a consultant for a number of international bodies including the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) and the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD).  His published books include: Transnational Corporations and Uneven Development and Corporate Responsibility and Labour Rights.

This should be an enlightening talk on a subject that affects us all: – the global economy.  Do please try and come.

Hope to see you there, with best wishes,

Marguerite Finn Vice Chair UNA Norwich & District Branch
