CND is pleased to support
Trident Ploughshares Disarmament Camp and Big Blockade
26th August – 7th September 2013
We hope you’ll join CND, Trident Ploughshares and other anti-nuclear activists to camp, protest, and participate in direct action against Britain’s nuclear weapons. AWE Burghfield is responsible for assembling the UK’s nuclear warheads. Nuclear components are transported by road in convoys from Aldermaston to Burghfield where they are assembled, and then transported by road again to Coulport in Scotland.
The disarmament camp at Burghfield is happening at the crucial time when the government is planning to replace the Trident nuclear weapons system at a cost of £100 billion – money that could be much better invested in renewable energy, improving the health service, and education!
The exact location of the camp will not be decided until the day it is set up, but it will be in the vicinity of Burghfield in Berkshire.
Download an information sheet on non-violent direct action and the disarmament camp, and register for the camp at: http://tridentploughshares.org/awe-burghfield-summer-disarmament-camp-2013/
The Big Blockade
Monday 2nd September at AWE Burghfield
Starting at 7:00am on Monday 2nd September, all the entrances to the base at AWE Burghfield will be blocked – join us for people-powered direct action against nuclear weapons!
