alternative response to our broken economic system

Belevdere Centre Belvoir Street,Norwich
Wednesday 22 February 2017, 19:00 till Wednesday 22 February
Professor Richard Murphy – political economist, founder of the Tax Justice Network and award-winning economic justice campaigner – will talk about an alternative response to our broken economic system and the social and environmental challenges we face. This will be followed by a Q&A / discussion of the issues raised in Richard’s talk.
“I persist in believing that if there is to be economic recovery in the UK post Brexit then something like the Green New Deal will be an essential part of the process… The essence of the Green New Deal is a Keynesian stimulus. It recognises an essential truth, which is that the way to solve any government funding issue is to create well paid full employment. When you have that any government can fund itself without difficulty…We have turned a blind eye to climate change, our children’s future and the current generations’ legacies. This needs to change.”
In 2015 Richard Murphy became known as the man behind Corbynomics. The relationship did not last. He is not a member of any political party.
