Education and Palestine

Posted on | September 28, 2016 | No Comments

12 October at 19:00

Norwich Friends Meeting House.
59 Pottergate, Norwich, Norfolk

Imagine learning about English identity and cultural history without studying the works of Shakespeare and you have a picture of what education in Palestine is for those designated “Israeli Arabs” forbidden to study the works of their most significant cultural figures. This picture however still lacks the effects of military dictatorship on the most vulnerable and susceptible members of society its children. Education like all other areas of life for Palestinians is shaped and represented by the will of Israel the occupying power and the NUT is proud to present findings from its most recent delegation to Palestine to allow Palestinian voices to be heard.
ALL WELCOME

Christian ethical teaching

Posted on | August 25, 2016 | No Comments

Dear Friends,

This is a notification of our next UNA LunchBox talk on Friday 16th September 2016. It is also our AGM which takes place between 12.30 and 1pm. The speaker at 1pm this month is Professor Catherine Rowett from the School of Philosophy at UEA. She will talk about ” What’s the relevance of Christian ethical teaching when it comes to international crises? And why some questions have no answers.”

This is a stunning subject and should make a very interesting discussion. Do please try to come.

The venue is the usual place: the Friends Meeting House, Upper Goat Lane, Norwich NR2 1EW. The talk commences at 1pm. See you there.

best wishes,

Marguerite

Vice Chair UNA (Norwich & District)

Peace vigil Hiroshima day

Posted on | July 31, 2016 | No Comments

In a time when divisions, violence and attacks increasingly make international headlines, Norwich Peace wish to invite you all to the next Vigil for Peace on Saturday 6th August 12 midday – 12.30pm outside St. Peter Mancroft, opposite The Forum, Norwich.

At 12.30pm we will process from St Peter Mancroft to Chapelfield Gardens to remember the many civilian victims of Hiroshima day at the Peace Pillar and share food.

In spite the NATO military build-up in Eastern Europe, terror attacks in France and the attempted military coup in Turkey, we can achieve peace if we all stand together.
