The Roots and Future of Conflict over the River Jordan (1915-2015)
Posted on | January 31, 2016 | No Comments
Dear Friends,
Dr Mark Zeitoun from UEA will give a talk about “The Roots and Future of Conflict over the River Jordan (1915-2015). This is an extremely timely and useful talk as the Middle East is currently in turmoil. Vital resources are being denied to the Palestinians and refugees from war are pouring into Jordan, Turkey and on into Greece and Europe. The River Jordan sustains many people, but it is being manipulated by some to the detriment of others.
This interesting talk will be held at 1pm on Friday 19th February in the Friends Meeting House in Upper Goat Lane, Norwich. Do please try to come.
Best wishes,
Marguerite

Action to oppose the replacement
of the Trident Nuclear Submarines
Norwich Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament will be carrying sandwich boards through the Norwich Lanes on Saturday morning, 6 February, publicising the problem of the replacement of the submarines that carry Trident nuclear weapons. We shall invite people to join our coach on Saturday, 27 February, to the London march and rally to stop Trident.
Such replacement of the vessels carrying weapons of indiscriminate destruction would breach international law, which obliges us actively to get rid of nuclear weapons. It would take massive funds away from necessary projects such as homes, jobs and the NHS. Trident is a continuing mega-hazard, repeatedly involved in accidents, in poor security and in low naval morale. It is also an invitation to terrorism. Its use by us would be suicidal. Its continuing possession ensures resentment by other states and it provokes nuclear proliferation.

PUBLIC FILM SHOW
THE STONES CRY OUT
Monday 5th October, 7.00pm
Arts Block 2.02
University of East Anglia
This is a powerful film by Yasmine Perni. For more than 60 years the Palestinians, Christians and Muslims have suffered displacement, expulsion, wars, occupation and oppression.
The voices of Palestinian Christians have often been drowned out. Have they fared any better than Palestinian Muslims? This is their story, in their own voices, from the Nakba of 1948 until today.
Organised by Norwich PSC in conjunction with Dr Hazel Marsh, PPL, UEA.
