Help us Stop the Arms Fair!

Posted on | July 5, 2015 | No Comments

Help us Stop the Arms Fair!
Saturday 18 July, 2pm – 5pm
Norwich Friends Meeting House Committee Room, Upper Goat Ln, Norwich NR2 1EW
This September, the world’s weapons industry plans to arrive in London for a huge arms fair: Defence & Security Equipment International (DSEI). The results of DSEI are felt around the world as people are killed, economies are devastated, refugees are traumatised and peaceful protest is crushed.
This has to stop, and together we can stop it. If you’re interested in taking action against the DSEI arms fair in London in September come along meet up with other local people to share ideas, find out more about what goes on at DSEI, and what actions to stop it are planned so far.
  • Find out more about what goes on at the world’s largest arms fair and what actions to stop it are planned so far
  • Watch a screening of ‘Arms Trade on Trial’  – a brand new short film that follows the remarkable campaign against the UK arms trade fought by a small group of people who met under a lorry.
  • Join a discussion led by activists from Campaign Against the Arms Trade and Arms dealers on trial
Let us know you’re coming! We’ve got limited space on the day, so please RSVP to kat@caat.org.uk to let us know you’ll be joining us.
Thanks, and best wishes,

Dear Friends

I’d like to tell you about our next Lunch Box talk on Friday 17th April at 1pm in the Friends Meeting House in Upper Goat Lane, Norwich NR2 1EW.

The Wulugu Project is now in its 21st year, and having made it possible for over a quarter of a million children to have an education, it continues to build new schools and hostels in one of the poorest and neglected parts of the world.

This special talk on Wulugu will be given by its founder and Ghanaian Chief, Lynne Symonds.  Wulugu is a small charity based in Norwich but its impact on the lives of children in northern Ghana has been profound.

Wulugu educates girls in literacy and numeracy as well as employable vocational skills, such as hairdressing, cooking, weaving, dress-making.  Wulugu has so far built and equipped seven Vocational Schools, the newest one being opened at Tolon in June 2014, with 400 girls enrolling and many more waiting to join.
