Update 31/8/2013

President Obama has decided to seek the approval of Congress for his plan to strike Syria militarily, to “teach President Assad a Lesson”

What lessons can the US teach anyone when it comes to chemical weapons, weapons of mass destruction or non-aggression ?

Having failed to get the UK figleaf he wanted the Peace Prize Laureate is seeking to get a US one even though like here the great majority of his people do not want military intervention on Syria

Congress does not reconvene for 9 days
Let us remember that all five nuclear armed Security Council members are involved in this and are also opposed to one another

and of course Israel has the bomb as well

During the Cuba Crisis in 1963 the world was on hold and held to ransom for a similar 9 days

after that we had the assassination of JFK and the Vietnam war

When will we ever learn ? Read more

No attack on Syria

August 2013 | stopwar.org.uk

1) Emergency Protest Wednesday – NATIONAL DEMO SATURDAY: No Attack On Syria
2) Together Against War: Donate to fund our campaign to stop intervention in Syria

No attack on Syria
– Protest tomorrow 5pm, Wednesday 28 August, Downing Street, London
– National Demonstration: Saturday 31 August, 12 noon, Embankment, London

Britain, France and the US are committing to another disastrous military intervention. Apart from the inevitable casualties, any attack on Syria can only inflame an already disastrous civil war and would risk pulling in regional powers further.

Most people in this country have learnt from the disasters of Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya. According to a Telegraph/YouGov poll on Sunday only 9% of the British public would support troops being sent to Syria, and only 16% support sending more arms to the region. Our politicians however have learnt nothing.

Take action:

We need the maximum level of protests to stop them plunging us in to yet another catastrophic war.

No attack on Syria
– Protest tomorrow 5pm, Wednesday 28 August, Downing Street, London
– National Demonstration: Saturday 31 August, 12 noon, Embankment, London

The national demonstration on Saturday will gather at Embankment (near Embankment tube) and march via Parliament and Downing Street, ending in Central London for a political rally to say No attack on Syria.

CND Disarmament Camp

Posted on | August 19, 2013 | No Comments

CND is pleased to support
Trident Ploughshares Disarmament Camp and Big Blockade

26th August – 7th September 2013

We hope you’ll join CND, Trident Ploughshares and other anti-nuclear activists to camp, protest, and participate in direct action against Britain’s nuclear weapons. AWE Burghfield is responsible for assembling the UK’s nuclear warheads. Nuclear components are transported by road in convoys from Aldermaston to Burghfield where they are assembled, and then transported by road again to Coulport in Scotland.awe-bomb-factory-by-hembo-pagi

The disarmament camp at Burghfield is happening at the crucial time when the government is planning to replace the Trident nuclear weapons system at a cost of £100 billion – money that could be much better invested in renewable energy, improving the health service, and education!

The exact location of the camp will not be decided until the day it is set up, but it will be in the vicinity of Burghfield in Berkshire.

Download an information sheet on non-violent direct action and the disarmament camp, and register for the camp at: http://tridentploughshares.org/awe-burghfield-summer-disarmament-camp-2013/

The Big Blockade
Monday 2nd September at AWE Burghfield

Starting at 7:00am on Monday 2nd September, all the entrances to the base at AWE Burghfield will be blocked – join us for people-powered direct action against nuclear weapons!

For more information on both the camp and Big Blockade email Trident Ploughshares or phone on 0845 45 88 362
